Come January 2nd 2013, RoHS II standards of compliance are expand to cover all electrical and electronics equipment. Certificates of compliance must include CE and RoHS II documentation and penalties for 

 What’s Different? The Long and Short of it.

1.) Currently, products that contain a RoHS substance and exceed suggested amounts of that substance are not allowed to be put on the market without a formal exemption. All exemptions will automatically expire unless renewed. Don’t leave your company open to penalties. Be proactive in extending your exemptions.

2.) New categories will be covered at different times over a 6.5 year period:

July 2014 — Categories 8 (medical devices) and 9 (consumer monitoring/control instruments) will be covered.

July 2016 — In-vitro diagnostic medical devices will be covered.

July 2017 — Industrial monitoring/control instruments will be covered.

July 2019 — Category 11 (all other EEE not previously covered) will be added.

3.) All finished goods will require a CE mark and a reference to RoHS 2 in the product’s declaration of compliance (DoC). Manufacturers must submit technical documentation (of compliance status) on request, and retain such documentation for 10 years after a covered product is placed on the market.

4.) Components , spare parts, cables and development kits must be RoHS compliant.

IMAGETEK LABELS ANNOUNCES DIGITAL PRINTING EXPANSION

THE JETRION 4900 Opens Doors to the Short Run, Digital Marketplace.

Springfield, VT – August 8, 2012 – ImageTek Labels, a PCM Company announced the recent addition of a Jetrion 4900 UV Inkjet system.  “A game changer for sure”, states Lynda Murphy, their long-time production manager.  ImageTek Labels, who over the last decade has built their niche market in durable label products, has a strong presence in the development and manufacture of industrial label solutions. The addition of the Jetrion expands their capabilities with the vision of entering into prime label markets where digital, short run labels are bridging the gaps in traditional printing methods.

The addition of the Jetrion 4900 digital printing system was a natural next step for ImageTek Labels. Combining both digital printing and finishing in one single system, the Jetrion will support the manufacture of durable labels that have kept ImageTek Labels at the top of the harsh environment label markets, while expanding their short run capabilities and lessening lead times; a win-win for ImageTek Labels and their current customers. Until recently, ImageTek Lables converted materials, often times using several steps to produce their custom finished products. Moving forward, the Jetrion 4900 will support the same quality label in the leanest way possible, making the entire process more cost effective for their customers while streamlining their short and medium run capabilities and giving label users high quality UV cured, laser cut labels at competitive prices.

In short, the addition of the Jetrion is a welcome investment for ImageTek Labels. Not only does it streamline their current printed products operation, it enables new opportunities into prime label markets where tooling, plate and die charges are increasingly becoming a thing of the past. ImageTek Labels is staying ahead of the curve and they are certainly a company to watch in the years ahead. In late August, they have plans to launch a new, top of the line instant quote website, where customers will be able to customize any label solution, choosing from a long line of UL approved, durable synthetic and paper materials.
